Message from the CommodoreWalter Staples Fellow mates, as we turn our thoughts back in time, remembering our childhood, the principles that have been propelled from generation to generation, let us not cease to keep them alive with all the force of their inception, producing strong and proud men and women Captains, still encouraging, still loving, still setting examples and still being that "anchor of hope" which binds us together as a boating family. It is an ongoing effort to bring our Captains together as a family. In that spirit, it is time for us to plan to come together and celebrate Fort Washington Boating Association 20th Anniversary. The boating gatherings emerges from those same elements that make a successful family: the willingness to come together, offering one's own strengths for the common good, inclusion of all the members, families, and guests - and as always- a healthy sense of humor. Mix in a few new friends and a good party now and then, and you get the "total club experience.” In short, FWBA is much more than a yachting association at a marina. It is a way of life where people form lasting friendships and watch each others' children grow up. It is both an extended family and a microcosm of the larger world. Those of us who have been with the club a number of years can't imagine being without it. Join us for a few hugs, a lot of laughs and a treasure chest full of sacred boating memories. FWBA PurposeThe Fort Washington Boating Association (FWBA) was founded in 1986 and provides membership for both sail and power boats. FWBA is recognized for its great members. The goals of the FWBA are: 1. To encourage and promote boating activities 2. To encourage and promote boating safety and navigation 3. To develop a fraternal spirit among local boating enthusiasts 4. To provide a medium for exchange of boating information 5. The development of adequate boat storage and dock facilities Fort Washington Marina is in a unique secluded location and it is the FWBA family that gives a whole new meaning to “marina life”. We are an enthusiastic, energetic and a fast-growing association that enjoys boating and a variety of other activities. We are always looking for others who are interested in promoting boating and other water events to consider membership into our association.
